Favorite Images from 2023: #2 Beauty and the Beast

As I've done for several years I like to look back on the previous year's work and share my 12 "best" images - although the word best is subjective. So, let's say that these are my 12 favorite images of 2023. I'll be sharing them one at a time.

 

Beauty and the Beast

One of my favorite places to explore is Hayden Valley in Yellowstone National Park - especially early in the morning when there is a mist hanging over the river and when the animals are up - but not a lot of people are yet. We had been photographing pelicans splashing about in the Yellowstone River when this bison approached. There are a lot of bison in the park, but this particular animal had a nearly pristine coat and was passing through a beautiful patch of fragrant, dew-covered, wildflowers.
